Trends in security management
With covid-19, the world started to see a shift in the way we process things. This has sped up the process of digitalisation across all industries, including security management. As we progress, the following trends can be expected in the security landscape.
- Intelligent video technology

Intelligent video technology integrates digital video technology with analytical software to help analyse situations captured by security cameras. Through security cameras installed, the software is able to analyse data such as searching for or tracking an object and identifying movements of employees to see if they adhere to rules such as social distancing and wearing masks. The analysis can also include face recognition and QR code recognition, which supports functions of the contactless way of doing things. Other than analysing, intelligent video technology is able to carry out activities according to their analysis, such as reporting alerts or triggering an alarm.
2. Convergence of multiple security systems

The convergence of multiple security systems into one unified platform can include security systems like alarm, access control and emergency management. This allows easy access to all functions and it is usually more cost-effective and efficient. Linking multiple security systems together to create an integrated system helps to connect the alarms, signals and emergency access controls, reducing the time and effort for security officers to manually respond to emergencies.
3. Cloud-based security system

Cloud computing is the delivery of hosted services, including software, hardware, and storage over the internet. Cloud computing provides cloud-based security services which are known to bring security, networking, storage, analytics and management together to extend flexibility and convenience to security agencies’ operations, deployment and management. Besides, the cloud system supports easy data backup and recovery and is known to have high security to protect confidential data. Adopting a cloud-based security system is not only convenient, cost-effective but also very reliable and efficient.
